Friend Ben Kurtz invited me over to view the new fishpond headquarters last Friday night. We hung out with fellow buddies, casted some rods, ate some burgers, and tapped the kegorator.
Good to see those folks, and great to see that they’ve centralized operations just a few minutes from my house. The location is directly adjacent to the Sante Fe art district, so those first Fridays can be interesting. I asked Ben about why the decision was made to centralize and office from Summit County and a warehouse in Kansas City appealed to them. Ben says, “Having the operations move to Denver was an easy decision. Denver is where I have grown up and live currently. Denver has many advantages over other cites/towns, and it will allow for us to grow to our full potential.“

I also asked how consolidating into the new place play a role in the company and customer service. Ben noted, “Our new space is actually significantly larger than our previous space in Kansas, and we did this on purpose with the anticipation of growing. The outdoor industry is a fun place to work and we want to reward our employees with creating a fun environment that makes people excited about work. With an open office floor plan we encourage all of our employees to learn all facets of the business, as it only helps everyone do a better job. Having the place of contact by either email or phone all being in Denver makes the job get done correctly and efficiently.”

What’s new? What’s exiciting? Ben says, “We are very excited for the move and to try and help satisfy our loyal customers and dealers to the best of our ability. We look forward to continuing to build upon our brand and to increase our exposure throughout the country and world. The new Westwater line is a great new category for us, and it has been incredibly well received.”

Great company and great people – a Friday night that was well spent. Thanks to the fishpond crew!
