Really hoping to get to see this soon

The River Why is an adaptation of the 1983 Sierra Club novel by David James Duncan. The coming-of-age tale centers on a young man named Gus Orviston (Zach Gilford) and his quest for an elusive rainbow trout, which is a metaphor for the man’s internal search for self-knowledge. Amber Heard plays his love interest, a tomboy fly-fisher named Eddy.

Glad to see this finally being released. I remember reading about it a year ago and that it had gotten hung up in legal wrangling between Duncan and the studio over copyrights. Thanks for posting.

Here’s hoping the movie holds it’s own on the silver screen. For what it’s worth I always thought the kid in the lead role did a good job as the QB on ‘Friday Night Lights.’ Who am I kidding, I’ll probably go see it, good or bad reviews.

I read this book while recuperating from heart surgery a couple years ago. I could not fish, so the next best thing is reading about fishing. I really think the book dragged and really got bogged down with a lot of aimless, pointless imagery and I found myself wanting to skip ahead alot…but I didn’t.
Though I think the idea of a young man running into a gorgeous young woman fly-fishing on a remote stream is a bit of a stretch, but then again…why would a person go see a movie about things that happen all the time? I just hope the movie moves along at a little better pace than the book. Movie adaptations usually do though.
